Aidan is 16 months old now! He's turned in to quite a little character
with the best personality. He is till repeating almost everything we say and
attempting complicated words. He's now starting to say two words in a row and starting
to "sing" songs like "twinkle, twinkle, little star" and "row, row, row your boat."
On Halloween, he perfected "puppy" and almost Trick or Treat---"tick a teat" he
says. He also has begun to recognize his shapes and can say words like "circle"
and "scare" (square) and colors like "purple" and "boo" (blue) and say many action
words like up, down, open, off, etc. Aidan is very polite and announces "bup"
when he burps and "gaaas" when he, well you know! He loves to be outside,
loves finding insects and touching them (we've had a few mishaps with squished ladybugs).
He can hold his own with his sisters, when they attempt to take something from him,
he really fights back. He loves brushing the handful of teeth he has and it's
often a fighting match when it's time to take the toothbrush away so we can put
him to bed. Papa's still been helping us with the house, and we are getting
close to finishing up the dining room (just in time for the holidays??). Aidan
sneaks into Papa's "work room" throughout the day and helps himself to all the tools
and wood, he's a handy man in the making. He has the funniest old man walk--he
often just struts around with his hands clasped behind his back swaying from side
to side. His dance is pretty funny too--he crouches down, puts his hands on
his knees and shakes back and forth. Watch out whenever he has a ball in his
hand--perfect aim, usually at one of us! We can't believe how big our little
man is getting. Just like the girls, growing up way to quickly.
Kaelin is 30 months old and Keeley is 45 months old. They
began their new school earlier in September. They attend two full days at
the same center and then Keeley attends two additional half days at a separate preschool.
The adjustment has gone relatively smoothly, although there have been a couple days
where they were a bit hesitant when we dropped them off in the morning. Making
new friends has been a bit slow as they were with the same children at their last
school in LA since they were just a few weeks old. Getting ready in the morning
is getting more challenging as the girls get older. They want to pick out
everything themselves and are very particular about colors (god forbid one of them
is wearing purple and the other one has to wear a different color). Unfortunately,
because they are both the same size, we don't get the benefit of being able to hand
down clothes! BUT, at least we have one more little girl on the way :-).
Neither of the girls are handling the cold that well, albeit, it hasn't gotten colder
than about 50 degrees yet. They hate having to wait for the car to warm up
in the morning and have insisted on having big blankets in the car to keep them
warm. Keeley also started her Fall Gymnastics class and loves it, but is also
asking when Dance School starts. We haven't enrolled her yet, since we've got way
too much going on right now to keep track of one more activity! Both girls
are learning about seasons as the leaves turn colors and fall from the trees. "What
do you want to be when you grow up?" -- this month brings us "a pilot" from Kaelin
and "an astronaut, a doctor, and in a band" from Keeley.
In early October Grandma and Grandpa visited us from Wisconsin and brought a car-full
and trailer full of goodies. Daddy's favorite was of course the new tractor!
It was a very busy week, so we didn't get out all that much be we had a blast just
hanging out and also going apple and pear picking. Grandpa built a workbench
for Daddy while he was here and Keeley and Kaelin loved making Apple Kuchen with
Grandma (watching really...). We are now thinking about turning one of our
rooms into a library for all the great books Grandma and Grandpa brought us.
Check out the folder of pictures of their visit!
Mommy and Daddy have been very busy with work-work and house-work the past month.
Mommy was still traveling back and forth to Los Angeles every two weeks, but the
doctor has just grounded her for the rest of the pregnancy. It was getting
tough sitting on those 6+ hour flights as her tummy is getting bigger by the week!
Daddy has an upcoming business trip to Florida, and we hope that the baby doesn't
decide to make her presence too, too early! We'll definitely have our new
baby girl by Christmas, and are just trying to figure out a name for that "Baby's
First Christmas" ornament and for her stocking!
