Ainsely is speaking in full on sentences. Favorite phrase includes "I don't like that!" She is the funniest toddler ever. She's alway up to something, cares nothing about what others think and is constantly after getting a laugh. She loves to dance and gets her groove on to any tune at all, commercial on tv. She especially loves getting "neck-ed" as she says and dancing naked in front a mirrors. We wish we could carry sticky notepads around with us all day to remember all the things she does that we want to remember. It's so hard, especially with four of them. But, Ainsley, when you look back on this 20 years from now, know that you light up our days!
Aidan continues on his path of being quite the ladies man, coming home from school with storiees of his "girlfriends" whom he "flirted" with that day or telling us about so and so who smiled at him. We don't know where he gets half the funny stuff he says all the time. "Are you kidding me?" and "That's just crazy" are often heard from him. The threat he uses all the time with us is "If you don't X then I won't give you a kiss." Or one of Mommy's favorites....when he swore and said "damn" (we may know where he heard that one...) and Mommy started to give him a time out, he says "But, I didn't say damn, I said dam, like the beavers make". Clearly, he was NOT using it in that context when he said it, but it was too funny to give him a timeout after that! Instead of a regular show and tell at school each week, the Montessori school has a letter of the week and each child is asked to sound out and find something that begins with that letter at home (not a toy). This leads to a great hunt every week and a bag full of at least 4-5 items for him to share.
It's been a very busy fall with all of the kid's regular activities but we did get to spend some fun family time on the weekends with a few different activities. We attend Disney on Ice in Providence, went pony-riding twice, spent a day in Boston and went to Fanueil Hall and the Boston Children's Museum (a huge blast!). Kaelin's been asking for a weekend trip to New York City, but that might have to wait until Spring. Nights are getting really cold and we've enjoyed our firepit and roasting marshmellows over it at night, but long for when we can take the pool cover off the pool again!
The kids has an awesome time on Halloween. Keeley was Hannah Montana, Kaelin was a unicorn, Aidan was Darth Vader and Ainsley was a ducky of course (still her favorite animal)! They collected enough candy to feed a third world country, and are suppose to be limited to 1 piece a day, but you know how that goes! Ainsley only lasted about 12 houses, then went home with Mommy to hand-out candy and entertain the trick-or-treaters who came bu (over 110 in all before we ran out of candy and shut down the candy store at 8:30pm).
Keeley's been doing so great in Kindergarten, really opening up and breaking out of her shell. She's beginning to read very well and write sentences too. She'll often sit down and write cards and create her own picture books with stories to them. We're amazed to see such learning/growth in such a short period of time. We send her off on the bus each morning dressed in regular attire of fancy party dresses, tights and dress shoes, expecting that she thinks she's going to a fashion show. She's very unique in that most of the other kids are in jeans and comfy clothes. Once in a while Mommy will convince her to wear a pair of pants, but it's rare! Many of Keeley's soccer games have been cancelled this fall because of rain, but on the days she and Jeff do go, she's really kickin'! Piano and voice lessons are going great. Dance is going well too, although we just bought her new ballet shoes two months ago, we're buying another pair! She, and her feet are going through a growth spurt just about every month. Keeley learned a lot at school about the presidential election process and really wanted to vote. Jeff took her bright and early on election day and she got to see the process and helped him vote (for her favorite candidate.)
Kaelin is still enjoying her yoga class and often takes time to get the rest of the family in poses at night. Which is quite a trip to see two adults who have never taken yoga and a couple other kids balance and stay in poses for any amount of time, or sit in a circle, all 6 of us, in pretzel poses. Kaelin has become an amazing artist. She's not so much into art projects as she is into drawing and painting. She can look at something in a book and duplicate it so well. She colors and stays within lines like she's twice her age. She's such a helper around the house, whether it's cleaning up helping with laundry. She's really interested in music, and keeps asking us if she can take piano lessons like Keeley. Given that she's only 4, we think she's a bit too young, but Jeff does spend a few minutes with her and gives her a "lesson" after he practices with Keeley at night. We think Kaelin's choice in music will be on the heavier side, as. she tends to drift towards Pink and Kid Rock songs on the radio and hums to them.
We
haven't had much time for adding a new lampost by the front walkway!
Tara's been extremely busy at work (nothing new there!) and has been
juggling two roles at the hospital, and flying and back and forth to LA
every week or two. Jeff accepted a new job at the company he's been
contracting at and that's keeping him at the office long hours lately.
We try to cherish weekend time with the kids as much as possible.
