The month started with a bang with Keeley losing her very first baby tooth which was too stubborn to come out on its own so we had to have pulled. But, believe us, the Tooth Fairy made up for the unnatural way in which her first too fell out! Keeley was so excited to get her personal letter, tooth certificate, money and small presents from the tooth fairy that she's been trying to loosen all her other teeth. Yes, we did warn her that the first tooth is is a special occassion and not to expect anything similar with the rest of her pearly whites!
Keeley and Jeff attended her first (and his first!) Father - Daughter dance. Wow, what we thought would be a small affair held in the High School Gymnasium was a huge turnout of hundreds and hundreds of 5-8 year olds (K-Grade 2 at her elementary school). All the dads were dressed to the nines in suits and the girls dressed up in party dresses. View all the pics Mommy took before the date and the couple Daddy took there! After the dance Keeley and Daddy went out with a few other "couples" for a late night snack (ice-cream for the girls and beer for the dads!).
The following Monday (this past...) all hell, or should I say vomit broke out at the Pierzchalski household. Starting with Aidan after school with a 106.3 temperature and projectile vomiting, then a very scary 15 minutes of temporary blindness where he was screaming that he couldn't see anything -- with the lights on and us waving in front of his face. (How we have gotten through 6 years and 4 kids without a higher than 102 temperature on any of them is probably amazing.) It was 9 in the evening and after calling Auntie Kelly to come over and watch the others while they were sleeping, Jeff and I rushed Aidan to the hospital, where we proceeded to wait for hours (although they did rush us past a huge waiting room and got us a room at least). We spent until 3am getting him check out thoroughly, chest x-rays (which he found very exciting), and much other poking and prodding. The doc gave him the very last popsicle at the hospital and that was a treat too! By the time we left the hospital at 3am, Aidan was ready for the "prize" we promised him for getting things stuck up and in him the last few hours...We found a 24 hour CVS and got off cheap with a 4 dollar motorcyle. Shortly after returning home I had an entire hour and a half to pack my suitcase and get ready for the taxi that picked me up at 5am to take me to the airport for a meeting at noon in Los Angeles! (As if taking the red-eye home from LA to Boston a few days earlier still wasn't kicking my butt enough!) Thank you American Airlines for the trusty upgrade to First Class, the Sofitel for the penthouse upgrade (and the comfy meatloaf and mashed pototoes from room service) and to Starbucks, Starbucks and Starbucks after the 6.5 hour plane ride to work. The week was horrible and the illness spread from Aidan to Keeley to Kaelin over the course of three days with all their temperatures higher than they've ever been before and the most vomit one house could possibley handle - no room, rug or furniture left untouched! (surely this must be one of the reasons Auntie Kelly never wanted to have her own kids! and no...you don't want to visit us anytime soon...). Jeff had a crazy week at work and couldn't take the time off, so Kelly handled all 4 by herself all week. A big, big thank you to her for holding it all together. Now, let's hope that St. Patrick brings us some luck of the Irish this week!
